The finer points of getting a hummer
Capturing the image of a hummingbird is more difficult than you might think. Trying to stop the motion of the wings is difficult at best. The only time I was able to stop the wings was when I had my shutter speed at 1/3200th of a second. And even then you have to crank the ISO way up.
Most of the photos below were taken at ISO 1250 and shutter speed of 1/500th at f/5.6. I was using the 2x Teleconverter, so f/5.6 was as low as I could go but it rang in at 400mm. The last three were at ISO 100 and 1/20th of a second. Yes, the second to last one is taking a dump.
